New Year’s Resolutions for Making Money Online

Tomorrow is January 1. This is the day that many people decide to start New Years’ resolutions. Most of these are pretty good ideas that include losing weight, quitting smoking, or some other health or relationship-related resolution.

Losing weight is not the only type of resolution that people should think about, though. Last year, I decided to take the plunge and go for a blog on a paid platform after a couple of years on a free site (I still have a couple of blogs up on free sites). My resolution was to really try and earn some money from the site. Earnmoneyinpajamas.com, the site that you are now reading was the site that I decided to set up.

I was able to post on a weekly basis for the first few months before a move and a new full-time job after three years as a full-time grad student. I was hoping to earn a few bucks a month from my efforts to help my with my monthly bills and living expenses. While this site did not make me rich by any stretch of the imagination, I was able to earn a few hundred bucks with it over the course of the year. One post brought in a large percentage of the traffic and the income, so much of the income was actually the best kind–passive income.

One of my first ever posts discussed how it is important to have goals. The online earning game (or, more like online earning job) requires planning. I set a goal of earning $5,000 through various online efforts during 2013. With just a day left in the year, I’m looking like I’ll be just over $500 short of the goal. While this is a bit disappointing, I can’t say that it’s devastating.

My efforts paid off in around over $80 per week on average. There were some weeks where I earned in the hundreds. There were some where I earned about $20. Regardless, I earned every week, and my total earnings added up to over $4,000 for the year. That’s the equivalent of working about 12 hours per week at the local WalMart at minimum wage with a fraction of the headache. It’s also $4,000 more than I would have made had I not started to look into making money online a few years ago.

My New Years’ Resolution for this year will be to update this blog with more information on earning money online. I hope to learn about more ways to earn money while sitting at home in my pajamas to help myself, as well as my readers. I also hope to raise the goal for online earnings above my previous goal. My hope is to gain a bit more in passive income each year to the point where I can save up some serious money.

Do you have any New Years’ resolutions related to earning money via differing means?

Earning Money in Pajamas in November

In November, I was able to inch my earnings up over what I had earned in October. Through October, I had earned $4,049.91 through my online efforts. I have done quite well over the course of the year, in my estimation, and if I can make this much next year in addition to my new full-time job, I should be in pretty good shape. My hope is that some of the efforts I’ve made will start producing a more and more passive income.

Without further ado, here are my online earnings for November:

Freelance Writing: $106.50

CashCrate: $24.12 You can sign up for CashCrate via the link and start earning money today.

My total earnings for the month of November were up to $130.62. This brings my total for the year up to $4,156.41. I am around $850 short of my goal of $5,000 in online earnings that I started with at the beginning of the year, but I’m OK with this. Had I not started with this goal at all, it is likely that I might be well short of even this achievement. My goal is to continue earning money online in 2014 to help my monthly cash flow. Every little bit counts and helps.

October Earnings Report

This month has been quite busy for me, so I’m a bit late on posting the online earnings report. I did not do as well in October as most other months this year, but I’ve been much more busy with my real job. As a grad student with my work completed, I had much more time (and much less income) for much of the past year. Coming into this month, I had $3,921.26 in online earnings for the year. That was just over $1,000 under my earning goal for the year. Here are my online earnings for October:

Freelance Writing: $85.92

Bubblews: $25.03 (Some people are making hundreds on this site per month, but they are much more active than I am.)

Swagbucks: $10.00

MTurk: $7.70

This made my total earnings for October $128.65 and brings my total for the year to $4,049.91. I have now crossed the $4,000 barrier. I will probably be a bit short of my goal, but this money will be nothing to sneeze at as I attempt to pay down debt from school. My earnings for November already promise to be around the same level. Good luck as you attempt to earn money in active and passive ways online.

September Earnings Report

My earning money in pajamas in September were down a bit over what they had been in August and the rest of the summer months. I’ve started a new full-time job, so some of the time that I spent on blogging and writing during the summer has not been as frequent during the fall thus far. This does not mean that I have done nothing, just that I’ve not done as much in terms of trying to make money online.

I still have my goal of earning $5,000 online using a variety of online earning methods. I began the month of September with a total of $3,754.48, which left me just over $1,245 short of my ultimate goal. That adds up to just under $300 of online earnings per month. Considering that I’ve earned over $450 per month to this point, it is definitely within the realm of possibility. So, without further ado, here is the money I earned in pajamas over the month of September:

Freelance writing: $49.32

CashCrate: $24.18

HubPages: $68.11

Bubblews: $25.17

These numbers bring my total earnings for September to $166.78.

When added to my earnings through August, I now have earned $3,921.26, just over $1,078 short of my goal of earning $5,000 for the year. I’ve already been able to exceed my earnings from freelance writing during October, so it is possible that my earnings will be similar. I’m hoping to get to the $5,000 by the end of the year. I will be sure to keep up with these reports of how much money I’m earning in pajamas.

Earning Money in Pajamas–August Earnings Report

I’ve started a new full-time job in the past few weeks, so I’ve not been quite as active in trying to make money online. The goal is to build up residual income over time that will help pay a bill or two without any additional work on my part. In July, I had gotten well over half-way toward my goal of earning $5,000 this year while sitting at home in my pajamas.

During August, I continued working on earning some extra money, although my time available for doing so was much less. I began August with $3,296.79, which was well over half-way toward my ultimate goal. During the month, I earned the following:

CashCrate: $74.18

Treasure Trooper: $26.80

Freelance Writing: $356.71

Total Amount Earned in Pajamas during August: $457.69. Of this, around $100 was passive income–the best kind of income that there is.

This amount brought my total earnings for the year up to a whopping $3,754.48. With four months left in the year, I’m just over $1,200 from my ultimate online goal of earning $5,000 for the year. I’m hoping I can make it. One of the reasons I want to make more money as I go through the rest of the year is to make some extra money to pay for Christmas presents. I will have more information on my September earnings in short order.

Swagbucks Contest for September

Swagbucks is running another promotion this month through Earn Money in Pajamas. This month, the site is offering a lucky referral who has signed up through this site a $100 e-gift card of their choice.

There are several options available for $100 e-gift cards. Amazon.com is a common choice, but there are also many retailers and restaurants that offer cards on the site. The lucky winner will get their choice from those that are available in the Swagbucks store.

All that is needed to be entered in the contest is to sign up (previous referrals are also eligible) under the referral link on this site that goes to Swagbucks. Any referral who earns at least 100 Swagbucks in addition to the initial signup bonuses before the end of the month is eligible to win. The likelihood of winning is dependent upon the number of people who qualify. This month, if you use the code “earnmoney70” (without the quote marks) when signing up, you will earn 70 additional Swagbucks digital currency that will go toward your first e-gift card.

The best way to earn Swagbucks quickly is by using the site as a search engine. Swagbucks will show up randomly when using the search engine available on the site. I’ve earned between $150-$200 in e-gift cards in less than a year just by searching the web (which I’d do anyway). Again, the first step in qualifying is to sign up for Swagbucks today.

Friday is the Best Day for Swagbucks

Some people might wonder about the frequency of getting some Swagbucks through searches. It is possible to earn every day of the week. I usually do around five or ten searches and get a few (usually between 6 and 12). This equals up to around a penny a Swagbuck.

There is a day that can be better for those who are searching for Swagbucks, however. Every Friday is actually Mega Swagbucks Day, AKA MSBD. On this day each week, members of the Swagbucks site can earn an increased amount of the virtual currency for their regular searches. 50 Swagbucks for a search is not uncommon. While 50 cents worth of a virtual currency might not seem like a huge amount of money, its 50 cents for doing what you would already be doing anyway. Why not earn some e-gift cards for use at some major retailers like WalMart or Target in the process?

You can sign up for Swagbucks to earn e-gift cards here. If you want more information on the program, I’ve written a full review of Swagbucks here. Swagbucks is a great way to earn some e-gift cards that can be used for Christmas presents. Here are four great ways to earn money for Christmas online in your spare time.

July Earnings Report

I’ve been working online for the past few months working toward a goal of $5,000 for the year. Much like June, July was a pretty good month when it came to my online earnings. Most was active income, but some of my income was actually extremely passive (i.e., I did no additional work to earn it). That’s the best form of income, in my opinion. Coming into the month, I was up to $2,373.93 for the first six months of the year. I earned some additional funds in July that will bring that total up. Here were my earning streams for July:

Bubblews: $25.16

HubPages: $52.34

CashCrate: $202.57

Freelance Writing: $642.79

This brings my online earnings for July 2013 to a whopping $922.86. If I were to earn this every month, that would be around $11,000 for the year, and when added to my regular job, that would be a great supplement to my income. Of course, as someone in education, the summer is the period that I can actually spend more time working online, so earnings might drop. I can hope that passive income starts to snowball and add up over time.

When added to my previous earnings this year, my July’s earnings bring my annual total up to $3,296.79, just a bit over $1,700 from meeting my goal of $5,000 in my spare time for 2013. This is definitely within reach based upon what I’ve been able to earn throughout the year to this point. Do any of you have a similar goal? How is it coming? Making money online is not easy, but it can be done, and it can bring in a decent amount of income for those who work at it.

Four Ways to Make Money Online for Christmas 2013

Christmas can be one of the most stressful times of the year. People tend to spend more money than they actually have. They don’t have to. Not charging presents can be a great way to cut down on the stress of the holidays.  Getting a somewhat early start is very important in building up a cache of cash to pay for the presents. There are several ways to get funds online without leaving home to pay for Christmas presents. Here are four of the easiest:

1. CashCrate

This site pays users for completing cash offers (most of which are actually free) and online surveys. Most of the surveys pay less than $1, but there are a total of nine that a person could conceivably complete each day. Checking in and watching short videos will also earn a bit of change. Those who can earn $20 in a month get a check. This site also has a great referral program that can add up the earnings even more quickly. I’ve personally earned over $700 from CashCrate in just over a year. You can sign up for CashCrate here.  A very similar site that can also pay out is Treasure Trooper, but this site has a referral system that is not nearly as lucrative for those who try to sign other people up. I’ve actually made money on both of these sites.

2. SwagBucks

This site is primarily a search-and-win site. Users sign up for SwagBucks and earn your first 30 in this virtual currency. Redemptions for $5 e-gift cards start at just 450 SwagBucks (most $5 cards are 500 SwagBucks). These gift cards also come in denominations that are up to $100 and above. Those who put in minimal effort should be able to get a couple of the $5 variety each month. Over the course of a year, that’s $120 in e-gift cards. Of course, with the popularity of giving gift cards for Christmas gifts, signing up for SwagBucks is a no-brainer. You can sign up for SwagBucks here.

3. Bubblews

This site allows users to submit their own content. As long as it follows the Terms of Service on the site, each view will earn a penny. Each comment on one of your posts will earn you a penny. Each like that one of your posts gets will earn you a penny. There is some earning potential here. I’ve done little until the summer and earned over $50. Those who post the maximum allowable number of posts each day tend to get a payout at least every week. Payouts start out at $25 via PayPal. You can sign up for Bubblews here.

4. MTurk

An additional site that will allow users to earn some cash for Christmas is Amazon’s MTurk. Users complete short (and usually easy) tasks for a little bit of cash. These tasks add up, and users can cash them out as Amazon credit or transfer them into their bank accounts in amounts as little as $1. There is no referral program for this site, and much of the work is monotonous. Those who have around 15 minutes a day to spare could probably earn a buck or two toward Christmas. You can sign up for MTurk here.

None of these sites is likely to make you rich, although at least one guy has made over $150,000 in about five years through CashCrate (most of it through referrals). By contrast, I’ve made about $700 in one year on the site. While they won’t make you rich, using one or two of them can earn you at least a C-note or two before Christmas, and you can use this money earned in your pajamas toward getting great Christmas presents for your family and friends.

Disclosure: I will possibly get some referral income if you sign up for the first three recommendations in this post. This will not come out of your earnings. You will earn the same amount whether you use my referral link or not, depending upon the time and effort expended. I thank you if you choose to utilize my links. I usually only recommend sites that I’ve actually earned money from, and I’ve definitely earned money from each of the four sites here.

Winner of $100 SwagBucks Gift Card

Back in early July, I announced that SwagBucks was going to give one lucky person a $100 e-gift card of their choice in a sweepstakes. The only requirements were that the person had to be one of my referrals and they had to have earned at least 100 SwagBucks not related to initial sign-up bonuses.

The month of July is over, and SwagBucks let me know that the user who won the $100 e-gift card had the SwagBucks name of gmorgan99. I would invite the winner to contact me and let me know of his choice for the gift card. I will then relay the information to SwagBucks, and he should get your card in relatively short order. Thanks to all who visited this site and participated in this great giveaway. Those who want to get in on future giveaways should sign up to get updates to the blog in the right sidebar.
