Are You Earning Money from Searching the Web?

Do you make internet searches for free? Most people do. They simply pull up Google or Yahoo! and then type in their search parameters. They do not get paid for this search. They do it for free. You do not have to be like them.

There are several websites that allow users to utilize a search feature to make internet searches while earning either money or points that can be turned in for money or prizes. Using one of these for most searches is a great way to earn a little bit of money while sitting on the couch during commercials. It is possible to make well over $100 per year just by making about 20 searches per day. $100 will not get you rich, but it can go toward Christmas presents, building up a retirement account, or saving for an emergency fund. If you decide to get e-gift cards, you can use proceeds for places like Wal-Mart, Amazon, or a number of other major retailers.

1. Search with Swagbucks

The second search engine that I use is through Swagbucks. You can sign up for Swagbucks here. I’ve found that sometime within the first five or ten searches I do on Swagbucks, I will earn some virtual currency that I can then cash in for real PayPal cash or e-gift cards to major retailers and restaurants. This is as good as cash. At times, I will use this in the morning and the evening because you can win again after a few hours (I’ve actually won as much as five times in a day). The searches will usually pay around 7 to 10 Swagbucks, but you can win as much as 100 on Mega Swagbucks Friday every week. My record is 49 for one search. Each Swagbucks has a redemption value of about $0.01, so if you were to win twice in the day and got 15 Swagbucks per day, you are over $50 in the course of a year. I’ve been turning my Swagbucks into PayPal cash in $25 increments, which I’ve been converting into shares of dividend-paying stocks.

2. I Use The Hawaiian Airlines Toolbar to Earn Miles

I know that this site is about making money in your pajamas so that you do not have to leave home to earn. However, you can earn more than money, and keeping money from leaving your pocket is just as good as earning in many instances. I downloaded the Hawaiian Airlines toolbar to use as a search engine. I only use it after I’ve cashed out on CashCrate and Swagbucks.

I can earn up to 1,000 miles per month. For every three searches, I get a mile. If I can max this out every month (which is unlikely), I can earn enough miles for a free flight to Hawaii in about 3.5 years. This is not the only way that I can use these miles, however. I can trade them in to Hilton Hotels and get 10,000 HHonors points for every 5,000 miles. That’s enough for a free night at many lower tier Hilton properties. I can also use the miles to get flights on partner airlines like Delta, so the redemption level would be less if I only chose to fly domestically.

There are other toolbars and search engines that can earn prizes. I would encourage you to look into the ones that will work best for you. Let me know how you’ve earned money or other benefits by searching the web.

A Word of Advice

I totally urge you to use these methods to search the web so that you can get money or other benefits that save money. However, I will point out that some of the search results at the top of the page will be paid results. It’s important to scroll down a little bit to find the most relevant searches at times. If you can’t find the best results, you can always turn to Google in a pinch. This way, you can find what you are looking for, and make money at the same time. I use them to look up everything, even if I know the address. That way, I’m sure to make as much as possible. Much of this can be done while watching television or doing other things that are just time killers. Some money is better than no money at all.
